What is RCCB ( Residual Current Circuit Breaker ) and types Of RCCB ?

What is RCCB ?

What Is RCCB

As electrical technology is getting better, the security is also being improved in it. Today you have many such devices that protect you from electricity. Like in the earlier post, we have told what is MCB, how it works. MCB is also a device that trip when our device is faulted and that saves us from loss. So this post today In this, we are going to tell you about another such electrical device, RCCB, what is RCCB, how does it work, what is its full form, then all this information is given below.

The full form of RCCB  Form Residual Current Circuit Breaker.

How does RCCB work

When the current in the phase and the neutral line is not equal, the RCCB recognizes the current difference in that line and trips that line and the supply of that line is stopped. And the important thing is that it is very low current Also recognizes the difference and immediately closes the line, the current in the line remains the same in both the wires. But many times a situation arises that current is reduced in one line and increases in another, at that time RCCB TRIPs our line.

RCCB

As you can see in the photo above, 10A current is flowing between the Phase Line and the neutral. But if the Phase Line connects to Earthing somewhere and some current of the Phase Line starts going to the Earthing, so that there is a difference between the current of the Phase Line and the Neutral Line and RCCB will trip this line.

The face line can connect with earthing in many ways, such as if you have added meaning to your device and there is a problem and there is a current in its body, then it can go into earthing with the help of current earthing. looks like. Or if you have not interpreted the device and someone touches the device, then the current starts moving from that person's body and into the earthing which causes a difference in the current of the Phase Line and the neutral line and the RCCB is closed. She goes. So in this way, due to RCCB, any person can be saved from feeling fond of current because it works very fast.

RCCB Number Of Poles

Based on the poles, there are two types of RCCB Double Pole and Four Poles whose picture is shown below. Double Pole RCCB is used for supply to our homes as single phase supply comes to our house. But Double Pole RCCB is used to supply three faces. For example, in factories or large factories where three-phase supplies are used, four Pole's RCCB is used.

Four Pole RCCB

Whether RCCB is Double Pole or Four Poles, they both have one thing in common. Their Input terminal, Test button and Load terminal.

1. Line

Terminals above the RCCB connect to the line. The terminal above connects you with the supply coming to your house. And in this, where you have written 1, you have to add the phase wire and where N is written, add the neutral wire.

2.Test

In RCCB, you have been given a button for this testing so that you can test the RCCB to see if it works properly. When you press this button, there will be a short circuit inside it, just like if there is a short circuit somewhere in our house, and RCCB will be closed as soon as the short circuit is done, if RCCB is not closed on pressing this button it means your RCCB. is out of order. But before testing it, you have to supply it inside it only then it will work.

3. Load

At the load terminal you have to connect the supply going to the switch board in your house with it. And here too, where 2 is written, it has to be added with the chord of the phase and where N is written, it has to be added with the neutral chord.

RCCB  Current Rating

If the rating current of an RCCB is 30 MA, then it means that if the Residual current flows in it to 30 MA then the RCCB will become TRIP. In the market you will also get an RCC with a rating of 30mA, 100mA, 300mA.

Types of RCCB

There are mainly three types of RCCB. AC, A, B

Types Of RCCB

1. AC Type RCCB

AC Type Rccb is used for AC current as if the supply coming to our homes is AC current, then we can use RCCB there.

2. A Type RCCB

A Type RCCB is used for AC current and Pulse. With DC current, the pulse comes where the rectifier is used or the inverter is used. Or there is a thyristor somewhere. At such a place, A type RCCB is used.

3. B Type RCCB

We can use A Type RCCB for both AC current and DC current.

In this post, you have tried to give complete information about Rccb Circuit Breaker ,working and type of Rccb ...

  1. Man thanks for teaching us God will rewards you but I have my question I need to understand why is it that if you make short circuit on three phase cuts off cable directly.

    1. when short circuit occur high current flow in phase so phase and neutral current different so RCCB Trip.

  4. the information you have provided is really very good and actually i would like to share with you ELCB and RCCB both are coming under one categories , but present ELCB not preferring and also ELCB Obsoleted is it Right?
